Mocha Momma wrote a post about all the hassle that she has to endure in the AM with her hair and I got to thinking about my own.
For as long as I can remember I rocked short spiky styles even though I have a huge head, but when I decided to umm… improve myself I wanted a new look. Thus began my quest for healthy long hair. It’s been a few months and I slacked off more than I focused, but I’m back on track… again. It’s not easy caring for black hair and if you have thick coarse hair like mine - you’ll need to take out a second mortgage for hair care products.
Here’s my typical morning hair routine:
- I moisturize my scalp and hair with Phyto 9 giving special attention to my ends b/c they’re extremely dry
- Then I in the moisture with Sweet Almond & Jojoba oil
- Next, I section my hair in four parts and flat iron my hair using minimum heat. To protect it from the heat styling tools and the sun, I use Frederic Fekkai Summer Hair Sunshine Shield Spray (whew)!.
- Afterwards I comb it into my desired style and use a little holding spray by Ojon.
That process alone takes about 45 minutes to an hour if I’m doing it correctly. I won’t even mention the various combs that I’ve collected because it takes just that many to get the tangles out and reduce breakage.
I tend to be a product whore and have a mountain of various hair care and skin care products. Right now I’m using Phyto & Phytospecific products because they received such rave reviews from another blogger that I adore almost as much as I do Tina and Mocha! BUT they are a tad on the expensive and while I ‘m getting great results I’m thinking of switching products when these run out.
So… WHAT’S YOUR MORNING HAIR CARE ROUTINE? WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU USE? TELL ME TELL ME!!!
Oh and washing.. requires a post all it’s own!
